Anna (Anka) Munizza, age 93, of Oakland, passed away surrounded by he children. On April 8th, 2024. Born in Oakland on November 12th, 1930. She was the daughter of the late George and Anna Popovich.
Anna was the beloved wife of the late Carlo “Hank” Munizza. She is the mother of John (Barbara Simchak) Munizza, Carol (John) Pentin, Robert (Lynda Gluckson) Munizza, and Joseph (Kristie) Munizza; grandmother of Melissa (Dean) Cheslock, Christopher (Theresa) Pentin, Caroline (Brad) Palmer, Kayla Munizza, and Carlo Munizza; great grandmother of Hailee, Jacob, John, Abel, Adeline, Wyatt, and Luke.
As a devoted member of Holy Spirit Church, she volunteered her time working in the church kitchen for Bingo and flea markets and enjoyed weekly after church coffee. Throughout her time, Anna served as the president of GCU lodge #437, president of the local AARP chapter, Boy Scout den mother, Allegheny County Election poll worker, lunch aid for St. Rosalia School. Known by her friends as “Frik”, she loved lunch with her friends Frik, Frak, and Fruk making ceramics, and decorating her mini doll houses.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. In the Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home, 500 Greenfield Ave. 15207. Funeral at 9 a.m. in the Funeral Home followed a Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 4815 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
